Refurbish with ventilated facades

In general, redevelopment interventions with ventilated facades are aimed at:

  • Improving the comfort of indoor environments

  • Contain energy consumption

  • Reduce pollutant emissions and their impact on the environment

  • Reduce external maintenance costs

Ventilated facades are a multilayer system that allows the installation of cladding elements using mechanical anchoring systems and leaving an air space between the load-bearing structure and the external cladding.

The distinctive feature of ventilated facades is the empty space left between the building's wall and the exterior cladding, which generates convective motion, thus enhancing the building's breathability. The ventilation layer, combined with the insulating material, reduces heat loss in winter and prevents heat buildup in summer.

Ventilated facades separate the interior from the exterior, ensuring thermal and acoustic comfort while allowing architectural freedom within the external context in which they are installed.

The construction of ventilated facades aims to enhance both the aesthetics and the consequent enhancement of the property, as well as reduce energy consumption .

A building's vertical walls can be constructed using traditional systems, namely solutions in which the perimeter wall is protected by a layer of insulation, a so-called external insulation system, in which the cavity is created within the masonry. These solutions are simple and effective for thermal insulation, but they can lead to problems over time, such as deterioration of the exterior cladding and, above all, poor breathability of the wall.
