VM Group: Technical Identity and Leadership in Ventilated Facades
Thirty Years of Evolution in the Building Envelope
VM Group does not operate as a sales network, but as an integrated technical unit. Our national and international presence is supported by a unique validation protocol: every anchor, bracket, and substructure is designed based on the specific loads and thermal constraints of the building.
We don't just install: we proactively identify any interference between the theoretical design and the actual construction site, eliminating any variations during construction. Our "network" is the sum of technical expertise that guarantees the same quality of execution on any scale, from monumental restoration to new office buildings.
Our expertise isn't the result of mere chronology, but rather of active participation in highly complex projects: from the ESA (European Space Agency) headquarters to the Teatro degli Arcimboldi, to the Basilica of St. Paul in Rome. Over these decades, we've not just provided facades, but have also resolved the structural challenges that prestigious architecture imposes. Our history is a repository of engineering challenges overcome, where technical precision is not an objective, but the minimum entry requirement.
Our evolution: from technical collaboration to construction site responsibility.
Our working method was created to eliminate the causes of ventilated façade failure at the source. Here's how we address critical points through process engineering:
-
Expansion Compensation: We use exclusively fastening systems with calculated fixed and sliding points. This allows the substructure to move freely relative to the cladding, avoiding mechanical stress and panel breakage.
-
Air Flow Optimization: We design the ventilation chamber (minimum 3-5 cm) by analyzing the building's specific stack effect. We ensure unobstructed air inlets and outlets to eliminate summer heat and winter humidity.
-
Canceling Thermal Bridges: We apply thermal break spacers (thermostop) between the brackets and the wall structure. This interrupts the conduction of cold, protecting the building envelope's energy efficiency.
-
Condensation Control: We manage the insulation layer and protective membranes so that the dew point always falls outside the masonry, keeping the building dry and healthy over time.
-
Load and Wind Calculations: Each fastening (mechanical or chemical) is chosen based on technical reports on static loads and wind pressure/depression, ensuring seismic stability that exceeds standards.
-
Critical Node Sealing: We address connections with window frames, thresholds, and copings with custom flashings and specific gaskets, preventing rainwater from penetrating behind the insulation package.
-
Chemical and UV Incompatibility: We select only certified materials (HPL, stoneware, aluminum alloys) with high color stability to UV rays and anti-corrosion treatments, avoiding the aesthetic and structural degradation typical of cheaper materials.

Our approach:
Engineering beyond the construction site
We don't have an abstract "mission." Our operating method is based on three pillars that guide every decision we make, from specification analysis to final installation.

Response to construction site needs
Client satisfaction is measured by the absence of unforeseen issues. Our technical support aims to anticipate critical issues with the existing support or structure, integrating the best surveying and fastening technologies to deliver compliant, timely, and technically flawless work.
Technical Integrity
For us, quality isn't a promise; it's rigorous compliance with loads, tolerances, and current regulations. Operating ethically means providing solutions that don't require changes during construction and that guarantee the safety of the project over time. If a project isn't technically sound, we won't take it on.
Vertical skills
VM Group's excellence lies in the specialization of its technicians. We don't focus on quantity, but on vertical expertise: our operators are trained to master the most complex construction issues and independently manage on-site issues. We invest in technology (laser scanners, BIM) not for the sake of fashion, but to have objective data on which to base our technical responsibility.
The operational structure: technical skills at the service of the project
The VM Group team is not a workgroup based on enthusiasm, but on vertical specialization. Every member of the team, from technical administration to site operations, is responsible for the compliance and safety of every single construction component.
Our structure is designed to ensure a single technical contact capable of managing the entire life cycle of the building envelope: from initial diagnostics to final validation of the specifications.
